The scenario:
This SPB is called “Come to The Fair”. The idea is to create materials for a welcome fair. The welcome fair will introduce new students and their families to the students’ school/college and to promote the clubs and activities on offer.
The tasks:
- Students will investigate what exactly is required of them. They will think of the audience, purpose and nature of the information to be conveyed. They will also evaluate existing products with the hope of getting ideas from them.
- They will then identify elements that will be used in their final products to communicate effectively.
- They will gather original and readymade elements from a range of primary and secondary sources. They will also edit them to make them suitable for their own specific needs.
- Students will also create some final products for some specified audiences and purposes – logo*, banner, site plan, CD cover, and web advert. Although the logo is not one of the graphic products, we think it is worth considering as one. Please note that these items should be visually linked (common fonts, images and colours etc).
- Students are expected to create a project plan at the start of the project. This plan should be used to monitor progress throughout the project. They will produce an end-of-project review. All the required evidence should be submitted in an eportfolio.
