» See the Summative Project Brief (SPB) and teachers’ support notes
The scenario:
This SPB is based on 5-a-day (fruits and vegetable portions). Students are to create an information pack for a ‘test buddy’ and digital posters. Note that the Level 1 SPB concentrates on just fruits, whilst the Level 2 SPB is for fruits or vegetables.
The tasks:
- Students are required to create a database for storing details of fruit portions. They will add validation rules. They will also do some research and add five new fruit portions into the database.
- They will get a ‘test buddy’ to take part in a reality check. The test buddy will complete a data collection form. The data from the form will be analysed. The results of the reality check will be printed for the information pack.
- They will search in the database for suitable fruits and vegetables items for the ‘test buddy’. The search results will again be printed for the information pack.
- Students will then create two food makeover cards for fruits or vegetables that have been suggested to the ‘test buddy’.
- Students will create a pack folder which will contain all the items for the pack. The pack folder must include visual links (common images, colours, etc) to the items in the pack.
- They must produce a sequence of four on-screen digital posters
- Students are expected to create a project plan at the start of the project. This plan should be used to monitor progress throughout the project. They will produce an end-of-project review. All the required evidence should be submitted in an eportfolio.
