» See the Summative Project Brief (SPB) and teachers’ support notes
The scenario:
This SPB is about planning an enterprise to raise money for a local children’s charity. Note that the goal of the level 2 SPB is to explore ideas for an event, whilst level 1 is a product.
The tasks:
- Students will form a team and have a formal meeting to decide on things like the rules, communication methods, responsibilities and location of shared folder.
- Students will have an informal team meeting and come up with a shortlist of possible events. Each individual will then investigate the possibility of each event. Each individual is expected to create a mind map, find information from a range of primary and secondary sources and model finances using a spreadsheet.
- The team have a formal meeting to make a decision about the final idea, based on the individuals’ research and spreadsheet model.
- The team again comes together to decide on a possible “look” that reflects what the enterprise is about. Each individual then creates a “look” (corporate identity) for the enterprise. They demonstrate this by creating a logo, a name, a strapline (slogan) and a colour scheme.
- The team agrees on a final corporate identity. They then create a collection of documents using the agreed corporate identity.
- They will create a promotional website. The team will also produce a set of on-screen and paper-based publications to promote the event.
- All the above will be put in a convincing enterprise proposal which will be used to convince potential sponsors and the charity that the enterprise will be a success.
- Students are expected to create a group project plan at the start of the project. This plan should be used to monitor progress throughout the project. They will create an individual project diary. They will also produce an individual end-of-project review. All the required evidence should be submitted in an individual eportfolio.
