Assessing students' work
The DiDA Assessment Guidance documents contain very important information about assessing students work. It details the assessment strands (a,b,c,d,e,f) for each unit at Levels 1 and 2. It then shows you the mark descriptions.
You should carefully use the mark descriptions to make a judgement of the student’s level of performance in each strand. Please note that the mark descriptions are not hurdles. You should consider the evidence presented, the strengths and weaknesses of the students work. You should then award a mark that is the "best fit", using the descriptors as a guide.
Edexcel have introduced a “six step process” of assessing students work. You should mark the students’ work in this order - strand d, b, c, a, e, f. Unit 4 is slightly different.
